SAVOURING TIME SPENT… IN THE KITCHEN
During the recent BookCity Milano 2019, the most important Milanese literary event, held from 14 to 17 November, Arclinea got together with V-ZUG and organised, in collaboration with Milano Food Project, "Gustare il tempo… in cucina" in the Arclinea Flagship Store at 7 Via Durini. This book-related happening was, quite literally all about, “savouring time spent… in the kitchen”.
With four meet-the-author events: dinner, aperitif, brunch and afternoon tea, hosted by, respectively, Jean Blanchaert and Miriam Camerini, Camilla Baresani, Ilaria Faccioli, and Gianni Biondillo. Thanks to authors and participants, books and food merged to symbolise a reconquering of both individual and collective moments, the real quality time that is so increasingly difficult to squeeze into our hectic everyday lives.
The excellence of the fully functional, convivial Arclinea kitchen displays teamed with the innovation and uniqueness of V-ZUG electrical appliances enable maximum expression and development of the link between reading and cooking, which both require time, concentration and passion. Books and food therefore symbolised new-found “me time” and sharing of knowledge.
Each appointment offered strong parallels between words and food, thanks to the Milano Food Project, which stems from a desire to lend a voice to ingredients, to all those small producers and artisans, by gathering stories and products and creating a direct link between those who produce and those who consume.
DINNER WITH JEAN BLANCHAERT AND MIRIAM CAMERINI
Jean Blanchaert, inventor of artists, words and shapes, a multiplicity of iridescence. Miriam Camerini, theatre director, actress, singer and academic. She directs shows, festivals and events around and inside the Jewish culture. Hosts together for an exclusive dinner with inspiration from afar. Adam and Eve had only just made their appearance when they took that fateful bite.
APERITIF WITH CAMILLA BARESANI
Camilla Baresani, writer and journalist, but also a keen food and wine aficionado. She hosted an unusual aperitif that mixed her illuminating, pungent prose with culinary specialities prepared especially for the occasion, starting with her latest book.
BRUNCH WITH ILARIA FACCIOLI
Ilaria Faccioli, illustrator and creator of books for children, engaged kids in a workshop on cooking and eating: lots of fingers in lots of pies (literally) and free rein to creativity, followed by a mega brunch of extremely high quality, which even the parents found hard to resist.
AFTERNOON TEA WITH GIANNI BIONDILLO
Gianni Biondillo, the most Milanese of authors, took his guests with irony and great story-telling ability on a literary journey of discovery through the city in all its many facets, exploring its history of integration and inclusion. Each metropolitan path was served up with its own dedicated tea as special as the accompanying sweet and savoury delights.
